VICTIM RELIEF MINISTRIES SERVING TO GIVE HOPE AND COMFORT TO FAMILIES.

DonateNow Victim Relief Ministries is daily working to give assistance to victims of crime in Texas, Arizona, California; particularly survivors of homicide in Texas. VRM provides physical, emotional and spiritual assistance through immediate crisis intervention and case management follow-up.

In addition, Spring is one of the busiest times of the year for response due to weather and disaster victims and this year, VRM has been in disaster response since the end of January in California and Texas.

CURRENT RESPONSES


Victim Chaplains and Crisis Responders have been deployed in response to the fires in California. More than 500,000 people have been evacuated from their homes to shelters in safe zones. North Texas floods swept through Gainesville, Texas leaving homes destroyed. Victim Relief was asked by the Texas State Emergency Management Council to coordinate the relief efforts with the faith community there as well as in Sherman and Haltom City. Recent Responses.

VRM was requested to assist in the recovery efforts in Greensburg, Kansas where an F-5 tornado ripped through the community leaving approximately 1500-1800 families homeless. Three VRM teams of Victim Chaplains and Crisis Responders were dispatched. One team worked in family assistance in Haviland, Kansas; another team in the shelter at the High School in Haviland working with families, and the third team was on the ground at Greensburg. Chaplains and Crisis Responders worked daily with families for several weeks providing support.

Virginia Tech campus shootings. Chaplains gave support to students in the hospital who had been injured as well as their familes.

Victim Chaplains are in the process of returning from their response to tornados in Cactus, Eagle Pass and Tulia where they provided hope and support to disaster victims.

Tornados struck Haltom City, Texas destroying property. Victim Chaplains were on-site for physical, emotional and spiritual support. Trees were cut down that had fallen on homes destroying roofs. Assistance was given in securing roofs.

Apartment complex fire destroyed apartment homes of 90 families. Victim Relief Chaplains and volunteers were on-site for 10 days distributing furniture and household items that had been donated by the community.

On a daily basis, client services of Victim Relief works with victims of crime to help them work through their immediate time of crisis as well as working with them through the healing process.
